What is Dysport®?

Dysport® is one of the newest alternatives to BOTOX® Cosmetic and, much like that popular injectable cosmetic treatment, Dysport® has proven very effective at temporarily reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the face. Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dysport® is a quick in-office procedure that can give you almost immediate results that last for months, and can be maintained with follow-up treatment.

Benefits of Dysport®

Dysport® can provide significant facial rejuvenation and a smoothing out of wrinkles and lines in the face. The treatment can address shallow wrinkle lines between the eyebrows, along the forehead, and around the eyes. Muscle activity in the face, such as squinting, frowning, and raising the forehead, can often cause wrinkling in those areas and make us appear older than we really are. Dysport® is beneficial in that it makes these areas appear smoother, giving you a more youthful and vibrant aesthetic.

What to Expect During Treatment

Dysport® is a solution derived from Clostridium botulinum, and works to temporarily stop facial muscles from contracting. This muscle contraction is what can ultimately cause wrinkling. Dysport® is injected with an ultra-fine needle into the areas targeted for treatment in a procedure that typically lasts 30 minutes or less. A local anesthetic can be administered in the target areas to lessen discomfort. The results of Dysport® are almost immediate, and the procedure can be performed over your lunch hour right here at our practice in Houston.

Recovery after Dysport®

Patients can typically resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment with Dysport®. Although some patients experience some mild swelling and bruising in the treatment areas, this should fade quickly within the next few days. One of the chief benefits of Dysport® is that it provides almost instantaneous results, without the downtime associated with other, more invasive cosmetic enhancement procedures.

The Results from Dysport®

The effects of Dysport® can last up to six months after the initial treatment. Results can be maintained with occasional follow-up treatments.
