Autologous Fat Grafting

For those seeking a very subtle change without using artificial materials, autologous fat grafting is an excellent option. We use a process similar to a BBL to harvest fat from areas like the hips or thighs, process those cells, and carefully inject them into the breast. This creates a soft, natural appearance with no risk of implant rupture, though it generally provides a more modest increase in volume compared to traditional breast surgery.

Saline Breast Implants

Saline breast implants consist of a silicone shell filled with sterile saltwater. They are a time-tested, safe choice for women 18 and older. One benefit of a saline breast is that if a leak occurs, the body safely absorbs the saltwater. However, because saline is less dense than gel, it may be more prone to visible rippling if you have very little natural tissue for soft tissue coverage.

Silicone gel breast implants are the most popular choice for our Mont Belvieu patients because they most closely mimic the feel of natural fat. These use a viscous silicone gel that holds its shape even if the shell is compromised. These silicone implants are FDA-approved for women 22 and older and provide a very discreet, soft result that is less likely to ripple over time.

How do I choose between silicone and saline implants?

Silicone gel implants feel more like natural tissue. Saline breast implants are filled with saltwater and can be adjusted during the surgical procedure. Dr. Sukkar will go over this so you can choose what is right for your body.

What are the risks?

All procedures have potential risks, such as capsular contracture (tight scar tissue) or implant rupture. There is also a very rare risk known as breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), which can affect the immune system. Dr. Sukkar will go over all of this with you.

Can I have my implants removed?

Yes. If you ever want your breast implants removed, we can do that. Some women choose to replace the volume with fat grafting using their own tissue at that time.

Will implants affect mammograms?

You can still have imaging done. You just need to let the technician know you have implants so they can use special views to see all the breast tissue clearly.

What if I have breast pain?

If you experience unusual breast pain or suspect a breast implant illness, we recommend an immediate follow-up appointment to check the integrity of the implants.
