Is a breast revision right for you?
If you’re unhappy with your breasts for any reason after an initial procedure, it’s important to know that you don’t have to live with the results forever. A revision with leading Houston plastic surgeon, Dr. Sam Sukkar, can correct virtually any cosmetic imperfection or complication that has occurred, including:
In general, a breast lift may be in your best interest if you:
- Breast implants that are too small or large
- Breast implants that are the wrong shape
- Capsular contracture
- Implant rippling
- Shifted, ruptured or deflated implants
- Breasts that have changed due to substantial weight gain or loss
A breast revision is performed after an initial breast augmentation to remove or replace your implants. Dr. Sukkar, a top provider of the breast revision Houston has to offer, commonly recommends this procedure to correct complications, or to fix an unsatisfactory cosmetic result.
An Overview of
Your breast revision will begin with Dr. Sukkar administering general anesthesia to ensure you’re asleep throughout the procedure. He will then open your prior incision to gain access to the implants. From there, the actual steps will depend on whether or not any complications are present, and the reasons you’re having your implants replaced or removed.
For example, if you’re having your implants replaced due to unnatural rippling, Dr. Sukkar will begin by removing the implant. He will then carefully place a new one to ensure enough breast tissue exists to prevent this problem from recurring. If the size of your implants is the reason you’re seeking a revision, Dr. Sukkar will create new pockets that can accommodate larger or smaller breasts, depending on the precise look you desire.
If you’ve experienced capsular contracture, Dr. Sukkar will remove both the problematic implant and the scar tissue. He will then strategically place your new implant to prevent this complication from happening again. And finally, if you simply don’t want to have breast implants anymore, Dr. Sukkar will not only remove your implants – but he will also sculpt and lift your breast tissue to ensure you’re thrilled with the way your natural chest looks after surgery.
Once Dr. Sukkar has addressed every concern that has arisen since your initial procedure and created the beautiful breasts you deserve, he will carefully close the incisions to ensure your resulting scars are minimal.
After your breast revision, Dr. Sukkar may require you to stay under observation for one night so he and his team can monitor your progress and ensure your safety. From there, you will be sent home to begin the healing process, where you should expect to spend the first three days completely in bed. As such, we recommend having a friend or family member stay with you, as you’ll need help performing normal daily activities.
In general, most of our patients are able to return to work within one to two weeks. It’s important that you don’t push yourself to return too soon, as you need to give yourself ample time to heal properly. You should also completely avoid exercise and strenuous activity for at least four to six weeks to ensure a smooth recovery.
