In addition to injectable fillers like Juvéderm and Radiesse, we offer non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments such as Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. During your consultation, our provider will help you decide which injectable can best help you achieve the desired outcome.
The Restylane® line of injectables are composed of hyaluronic acid gel that mimics what your body naturally produces.
This popular dermal filler can improve nasolabial folds and other signs of facial aging. Once injected, the Restylane® solution fills in the area and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, Restylane® can be used to plump the lips for a fuller appearance. The effects of Restylane® can typically be seen immediately following the injection, and results have been known to last up to six months – even a year in some cases.
Restylane Lyft® is similar to Restylane® in that it is a hyaluronic acid injectable designed to make the face look more youthful.
However, Restylane Lyft® can be especially helpful for patients with more severe facial wrinkles. The injections are made deeper under the skin, addressing more obvious signs of facial aging. Results from Restylane Lyft® can last six months to a year. The effects of both Restylane® and Restylane Lyft® can be maintained for very long
Lips can lose volume, color, and elasticity with age. Restylane Kysse® plumps them up and erases wrinkles above the mouth for up to a year. This dermal filler is exclusively designed for the lips to preserve flexibility and movement while adding natural-looking volume.
Restylane Silk® is the best injectable filler for softening superficial lines around the mouth and adding fullness for natural-looking lips with its small particle size. With follow-up treatments, Restylane Silk® can last up to one year in the lip.

is restylane dermal filler reversible?
All Restylane products are made with hyaluronic acid, which can safely be dissolved if needed by injecting hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down HA.
how long do restylane treatments take?
At the Clinic for Plastic Surgery in Houston Restylane appointments often take less than an hour, depending on your volume needs. However, the treatment itself typically takes 15-30 minutes.
is there any downtime with restylane?
Downtime for Restylane is usually minimal. You can expect some swelling and redness at the injection site for 2-3 days. Side effects can also include pain, bruising, headache, tenderness, lump formation, and itchiness at the injection site. These are typically mild and might last a week or two, depending on the treatment site.
You should plan to have your dermal injections done during a time when swelling and potential bruising will be acceptable.
As with any dermal filler, you should stay out of the sun and avoid exposure to UV light and extreme heat or cold until any initial swelling and redness go away.
Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications or supplements 2-3 days before treatment can help reduce bruising, but always consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medication.
what are the risks of restylane?
The risk of allergic reactions is not likely with Restylane because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body. It is not animal-based and, therefore, free from animal protein. However, some people are hypersensitive to certain anesthetics, such as lidocaine.
With all procedures like this, the injection of Restylane carries some risk of infection and the formation of scar tissue. Additionally, if you have previously had cold sores, an injection can cause them to come back.
To ensure a safe procedure, Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Sukkar will review your medical history to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for treatment and discuss any potential risks.
are restylane injections painful?
Restylane Lyft, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Kysse contain 0.3% lidocaine to reduce pain during injection. We inject Restylane dermal fillers with ultrafine needles, and we use topical numbing cream and ice packs to prep the skin.
Most importantly, we are trained and experienced in dermal filler injections and use techniques to minimize discomfort before, during, and after any Restylane dermal filler treatment!
