Sam Sukkar, MD announces his new role as a member of ISAPS and discusses how he believes this will further enhance his expertise in aesthetic plastic surgery.
Houston, TX – In an effort to provide the most advanced and effective care possible, Dr. Sam Sukkar, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Houston, is pleased to announce that he has been accepted into the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). As a member of ISAPS, Dr. Sukkar will have access to scientific conferences and meetings held worldwide, joining some of the most qualified plastic surgeons in 94 countries.
ISAPS is the world’s leading professional organization for aesthetic plastic surgery with over 2,400 members covering every continent. Dr. Sukkar describes these surgeons as, “Those who seek knowledge beyond their country of origin out of curiosity, as well as a desire to go above and beyond to deliver optimal care for their patients.” To be considered for membership, the organization requires surgeons to have practiced for at least three years past their foundational medical training, be board certified (or the equivalent in their country), have demonstrated that they hold the highest safety and ethical standards, and are trained in current surgical techniques and treatments.
Dr. Sukkar is thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with some of the top plastic surgeons in the world. He says, “Having a global exposure allows ISAPS member surgeons to broaden their aesthetic surgical perspective and learn from colleagues who may have developed new techniques not common in the U.S. In addition, the rapidly changing cultural landscape in America dictates that we have a diverse, broad understanding of the differing expectations of a particular ethnic group. Overall, he believes this accreditation will allow him to further hone his surgical techniques, extend his knowledge to fellow surgeons, and stay abreast of the latest innovations in aesthetic plastic surgery.
ABOUT SAM M. SUKKAR, MD
Dr. Sukkar performs a wide range of cosmetic plastic surgery procedures at his Houston practice–from breast augmentation to facelift surgery to liposuction. He attended medical school at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and then trained in a General Surgery residency at the University of Texas Hermann Hospital in Houston at the Texas Medical Center. Dr. Sukkar then completed his plastic surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is involved in a number of professional organizations. In addition to ISAPS, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Houston Society of Plastic Surgery.
