Traditional breast augmentation often uses sharp or heat-based tools to make space for the implant. Preservé™ uses blunt separation and gentle expansion, moving tissue aside without wide internal cuts.

The Motiva Channel Separator creates a tunnel through a small breast-crease incision. The Motiva Inflatable Balloon expands that tunnel to the selected dimensions. This controlled tissue elongation protects more connective tissue, blood supply, nerves, and internal support structures.

The implant pocket usually sits above the chest muscle. By not cutting the muscle, you may have less pain with movement and a more natural feel.

Every breast implant creates a foreign body response as a capsule forms around it. Capsular contracture occurs when that capsule tightens, making the breast firm, distorted, or painful.

Research has explored how implant surfaces affect this response. As reported in Nature Biomedical Engineering, the surface topography of silicone breast implants mediates aspects of the foreign body response. This helps explain interest in a low inflammatory response, but no implant or technique can promise freedom from capsular contracture.

1. Complete a breast examination. Dr. Sukkar measures the breast base, coverage, fold, nipple position, and chest wall.
2. Choose the implant by dimensions. Width, projection, and coverage matter as much as volume.
3. Review the patient labeling. You will receive the FDA-required implant information and decision checklist.
4. Update breast screening when needed. Imaging may be requested based on age and history.
5. Review medications and supplements. Some products increase bleeding or affect anesthesia.
6. Stop nicotine. Nicotine restricts blood flow and raises the risk of wound and scar complications.
7. Arrange help. A responsible adult should take you home and remain available afterward.

Most patients are able to walk around after a short observation period and go home the same day. You can expect some pressure, swelling, and tightness. Movement may feel easier since the chest muscle is left untouched.

You may be able to return to desk work within a few days. More physical jobs will take longer. Heavy lifting and upper-body workouts should wait until your body has healed and the implant pocket is stable.

General Recovery Timeline

• Days 1–3: Soreness, pressure, and swelling are most noticeable. Take short walks.
• Days 4–7: Light daily tasks and desk work may feel manageable.
• Weeks 2–3: Bruising fades, but the breasts may still sit high or feel firm.
• Weeks 4–6: Exercise and lifting return in stages after an examination.
• Months 2–3: The implants settle and the breasts feel softer.

Call for increasing redness, fever, drainage, severe pain, or sudden one-sided swelling. Chest pain or shortness of breath requires prompt medical attention.

A straightforward procedure may use a breast-crease incision of about 1 inch, or 2.5 centimeters. Implant dimensions and tissue flexibility can require a longer incision.

Scars usually start out pink or darker and may feel firm at first. They should soften over six to twelve months, but no surgical scar goes away completely. Genetics, nicotine use, sun exposure, and tension on the incision can all affect how visible the scar is.

Traditional breast surgery offers greater flexibility for thin tissue, larger implants, complex asymmetry, revision, or a breast lift.
