AYON + Renuvion Body Contouring in Houston

Remove. Tighten. Sculpt.

Localized fat and loose skin often affect the same area. You may want a clearer waistline, a smoother back, or more definition through the arms, yet worry that removing fat will leave the skin looking softer. AYON and Renuvion allow Sam M. Sukkar, MD, FACS, to plan for both concerns during one body-contouring operation.

AYON is the surgical platform Dr. Sukkar uses to remove unwanted fat and sculpt the body's contours. Renuvion follows liposuction to contract tissue beneath the skin when laxity is also part of the picture. Together, they give him a way to shape the underlying volume and address how the overlying tissue settles around it.

The plan begins with your anatomy. The amount of fat, the quality of your skin, and the change you want determine where each technology has a role—and whether a different procedure would serve you better. Schedule a consultation in Houston to discuss the options with Dr. Sukkar.

What Is AYON + Renuvion Body Contouring?

AYON + Renuvion body contouring combines surgical liposuction with an additional tissue-contraction step. AYON brings the tools for preparing, loosening, and removing fat into one system. Renuvion delivers helium plasma and radiofrequency energy beneath the skin after liposuction to coagulate and contract subcutaneous tissue.

The two technologies work on different parts of the contour. AYON changes the volume and shape beneath the skin. Renuvion addresses tissue laxity that could remain visible once that volume is reduced. Dr. Sukkar decides how much fat to remove, where to preserve fullness for a smooth transition, and which areas may benefit from Renuvion.

Both steps are surgical. They use small access incisions, require anesthesia and recovery, and depend on careful patient selection. The combination can be valuable when fat and mild-to-moderate laxity coexist, but it cannot remove a substantial fold of skin.

AYON: Remove and Shape

AYON is an FDA-cleared body-contouring system used to fragment, emulsify, and aspirate subcutaneous fat—the fat you can generally pinch beneath the skin. Its ultrasound component helps loosen fat before Dr. Sukkar removes it through a narrow cannula. The platform also supports infiltration and aspiration, allowing him to adjust the approach to the area and the contour he is creating.

The aim is selective removal. Flattening one pocket without considering the waist, back, or adjacent thigh can leave a transition that draws the eye. Dr. Sukkar plans the treated area as part of the whole body, leaving support where it helps the final shape.

Renuvion: Address Tissue Laxity

Once the planned fat has been removed, Dr. Sukkar may pass the Renuvion handpiece beneath the skin through small access points. The device uses helium plasma and radiofrequency energy to coagulate and contract subcutaneous soft tissue. Its APR handpiece is FDA-cleared for this use following liposuction for aesthetic body contouring.

That contraction may help the tissue follow the new shape more closely as healing progresses. The response varies. Skin that is thin, heavily stretched, or hanging in a pronounced fold has less potential for the kind of improvement this approach can provide.

The Combined Result

The goal is a contour that looks considered from more than one angle: less localized fullness, smoother transitions, and tissue that settles as well as your skin quality allows. AYON and Renuvion provide tools for that work. They do not create a standard result, and using both does not guarantee a tighter appearance in every patient.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Dr. Sukkar may consider the combination in body areas where localized subcutaneous fat and tissue laxity are both present. The abdomen and flanks are common examples: reducing fullness can define the waist, while treating selected lax tissue may improve how the skin follows that new line. Back and bra-roll areas, upper arms, and thighs may also be considered when the tissue quality supports the plan.

Each area presents a different balance of fat and skin. An arm with a modest fat pocket and resilient skin may need liposuction alone. An arm with a long, hanging fold may need an arm lift. On the abdomen, a soft lower fold may reflect excess skin or separated muscles that a tummy tuck can address directly. Dr. Sukkar will tell you which tissue is creating the contour you see.

Who May Be a Good Candidate?

This approach may suit someone at a stable, maintainable weight who has stubborn fat along with mild-to-moderate tissue laxity in the same treatment area. Good general health, realistic expectations, and the ability to follow recovery instructions are important. Skin elasticity is especially relevant because the skin must adapt after the underlying fat is removed.

Your consultation includes an examination of fat distribution, skin thickness, stretch marks, scars, asymmetry, and any prior body-contouring work. Dr. Sukkar will also review your medical history, medications, nicotine use, and the extent of surgery you are considering. From there, he can recommend AYON alone, AYON with Renuvion, or a different procedure.

Weight loss may be part of the story. After lifestyle changes or medical weight loss, including treatment with a GLP-1 medication, the body can have residual fat pockets beneath looser skin. A stable weight gives Dr. Sukkar a clearer picture of what surgery can improve. When major weight loss has left significant hanging skin, an after-weight-loss body-contouring procedure may be more appropriate than tissue contraction alone.

AYON + Renuvion vs. Liposuction Alone

Liposuction removes fat. For skin with good elasticity, that may be enough: the tissue can settle over the smaller contour as swelling resolves. If the skin has lost some recoil, its response becomes harder to predict. Removing fat can make existing laxity more noticeable.

Adding Renuvion gives Dr. Sukkar a way to treat selected subcutaneous tissue after fat removal. It may improve the final contour for the right patient, though it also adds an energy-based step with its own risks and recovery considerations. The decision depends on your skin rather than a rule that everyone having liposuction should receive Renuvion.

AYON + Renuvion vs. a Tummy Tuck

The question often comes up around the abdomen: can a smaller-incision procedure address both the bulge and the skin? It depends on what is causing the shape.

AYON can remove localized fat, and Renuvion can contract selected tissue beneath the skin. A tummy tuck physically removes excess abdominal skin and can repair separated abdominal muscles. If the lower abdomen has a significant overhang, stretched skin that folds over itself, or muscle separation after pregnancy, a tummy tuck can make changes the AYON + Renuvion combination cannot.

For a patient with limited laxity and no need for muscle repair, the combined approach may be worth considering. For a patient who needs skin excision, choosing a smaller incision will not provide the same correction. Dr. Sukkar will explain the likely difference in contour, scarring, and recovery before you decide.

What Happens During the Procedure?

Dr. Sukkar marks the treatment areas while you are standing, when the shape and skin laxity are easiest to assess. The operation takes place in a surgical setting under anesthesia selected for your health and the scope of treatment.

Through small incisions, he prepares the tissue and uses AYON to loosen and remove the planned fat. He then checks the developing shape and treats selected areas with Renuvion beneath the skin. The order of treatment, number of areas, and whether other procedures are included follow your individual surgical plan. You will receive instructions for garment use, activity, incision care, and follow-up before you go home.

Recovery and Results

Recovery reflects the entire operation. Swelling, bruising, soreness, temporary numbness, and firmness are common after liposuction. Renuvion can add temporary tenderness or a crackling sensation under the skin as gas disperses. Dr. Sukkar may recommend compression and early walking while limiting strenuous activity until healing allows it.

You may see a change in shape before you can judge the final result. Swelling can obscure definition for weeks, and tissue contraction continues to evolve over the following months. The pace depends on the treatment area, amount of fat removed, skin quality, and your individual healing. A stable weight helps preserve the proportions created by surgery, although aging and future weight changes can still affect the skin and contour.

Risks and Limitations

Combining AYON liposuction with Renuvion adds an energy-based step to a surgical procedure. Potential risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collections, burns, contour irregularities, changes in sensation or pigmentation, scarring, delayed healing, and an unsatisfactory result. Liposuction also carries risks such as blood clots, fat embolism, and injury to deeper structures. Renuvion has device-specific risks, including gas-related complications and tissue or nerve injury. Dr. Sukkar will review the risks relevant to your health and treatment plan.

Neither technology removes visceral fat inside the abdomen, repairs separated muscles, treats obesity, or excises excess skin. A smooth result also depends on how the untreated areas meet the treated ones. These limits are part of the planning conversation, particularly if you have previously had liposuction or significant weight loss.

You should leave the consultation understanding the proposed operation, its likely limits, and the recovery it requires.

Cost of AYON + Renuvion in Houston

The cost depends on the number and size of treatment areas, the amount of liposuction and tissue treatment planned, anesthesia, facility time, and any additional procedures. Dr. Sukkar will provide a personalized estimate after examining you. Financing options are available for qualified patients.

AYON + Renuvion Body Contouring FAQs

Yes. AYON is used for surgical fat removal, and the Renuvion handpiece is placed beneath the skin after liposuction. The procedure involves anesthesia, small access incisions, and recovery time.

No. Skin that is likely to settle well after fat removal may not need an additional tissue-contraction step. Dr. Sukkar recommends Renuvion when he believes the amount and quality of lax tissue make it useful.

It cannot remove a substantial fold of skin or repair separated abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck may be the better choice when those are the main concerns.

Fat is removed during surgery, but swelling initially hides some of the new contour. Tissue settling and contraction take longer. Dr. Sukkar will explain the expected timeline for your treatment areas.

The procedure uses small access incisions that leave scars. Their placement and final appearance depend on the treatment areas, your skin, and how you heal. Combining AYON with Renuvion does not create the long skin-excision incision used for a tummy tuck.
