Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve placing an acid solution on your face to remove the damaged and imperfect outer layers of skin. These treatments come in various depths and strengths, and are designed to unveil a brand new layer of skin that is smoother and more beautiful than ever before. Performed in the comfort of Dr. Sukkar’s Houston office, our chemical peels will rejuvenate your skin.

We will apply the chosen chemical solution that has been customized to safely treat your unique skin issues. Once the treatment is complete, we will remove the solution, apply a soothing ointment and send you home to begin the healing process. The length of your treatment, along with your aftercare instructions and recovery period, will depend on the type of chemical peel being performed. During your initial consultation for chemical peels and dermaplaning Houston aestheticians at The Clinic for Plastic Surgery will carefully examine your skin and help you determine which of the following chemical peels will best revitalize and refresh your facial appearance.

Light Chemical Peel

Our light chemical peels are the easiest to tolerate. Also known as glycolic or AHA peels, this option gently removes the top layer of your skin to encourage your body to rejuvenate itself from the inside out. In this way, it improves the appearance of fine lines, acne, dry skin and pigmentation issues. The actual treatment is very comfortable, and you won’t experience much skin redness or irritation afterwards. In general, you’ll be able to resume your normal daily routine immediately after your appointment, however you’ll likely require multiple sessions to achieve optimal results.

Medium Chemical Peel

Also known as TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels, medium chemical peels offer a terrific way to treat acne scars, uneven texture, pigmentation issues and fine lines. The treatment can be completed in just 15 minutes, and it will produce visible and long-lasting results. Within just one week, your dull outer layer of skin will slough off, and your new and glowing complexion will be revealed.

Deep Chemical Peel

Also known as a phenol peel, deep chemical peels are very aggressive treatments. They are designed to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin to reverse severe imperfections, like very sun-damaged skin, deep wrinkles and acne scars. These peels are so powerful that they produce the most dramatic results in just one treatment – however they are associated with a substantial recovery period. You’ll need to rest at home for at least one week, as the top layer of your skin flakes off to reveal a brand new layer of undamaged pink skin underneath.

Dermaplaning

For smoother, softer skin try dermaplaning at The Clinic for Plastic Surgery Med Spa. Dermaplaning manually removes the uppermost layer of dead skin and hair with a sterile blade. Since it does not damage the living skin cells, there is no pain or discomfort. This quick, results-driven skin resurfacing treatment unveils skin that is touchably soft with improved clarity and tonality.

A non-invasive rejuvenation treatment, dermaplaning involves exfoliating your skin to achieve a smoother complexion. It’s often performed in conjunction with chemical peels to achieve the best possible cosmetic outcome. To perform this procedure, an aesthetician will then your skin taut, while gently moving a surgical blade over your face to eliminate any dead skin cells, allowing your bright and healthy complexion to shine through. Once the procedure is complete, you will not experience any downtime, and you’ll be free to resume your normal daily routine immediately.

Procedures In Detail

Chemical Peels

We offer light and medium-depth peels depending on your exact skin concerns.

The depth of your peel may vary, but the process is the same. After cleansing your skin of makeup and impurities, your Houston Med Spa facialist will apply a customized mixture of skin-safe ingredients to your skin. The active ingredients initiate a chemical exfoliating process to bring your skin back to life, erasing dead skin cells and surface irregularities for a softer skin texture with a luminous glow. After a few seconds to minutes, they will deactivate the chemicals with a neutralizing solution. Your procedure ends with nutrient-rich serum application and SPF.

Dermaplaning

In 30 minutes, your skin will take on a baby smooth, revitalized appearance with fewer surface imperfections. Also known as ‘the scalpel facial’ by celebrities, dermaplaning is a convenient non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure that painlessly removes dead skin cells and facial hair by shaving away the top layer of your skin.

Recovery

Softer, glowing skin is waiting to be revealed. Redness and swelling may occur initially, with the exception of superficial chemical peels, which leave your skin glowy, just like a facial with zero downtime.

Don’t pick at the flakes! Instead, apply a fragrance-free occlusive moisturizer to protect your freshly resurfaced skin. Most peeling resolves in one to two weeks. Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun, so be sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily for the next two weeks. Your skin may start to peel two to four days after your peel. You’ll also want to avoid active skincare ingredients such as glycolic acid, retinol/retinoids, lactic acid, etc., until your skin heals, as these can increase sensitivity.

Results

Minimal downtime with long-lasting results. Depending on your chosen treatment, it can take a few days to two weeks to see the results. You will look simply gorgeous with skin that looks smoother, younger, and glowing! Repeat your treatment at regular intervals (usually every four to six weeks) to further enhance and maintain your results.
